Powerstar, the market leading energy storage and voltage optimisation brand has launched anew apprentice scheme at the company’s headquarters and manufacturing site in Sheffield.

The move by Powerstar is the latest by the company in helping support economic growth within South Yorkshire. In September, Powerstar, in conjunction with Sheffield (LEP) Local Enterprise Partnership, invited nine potential candidates who were shortlisted from their final GCSE results to Powerstar HQ, where they undertook a series of both practical and theory tests to assess their skills and potential. Ross Connerton and Jamie Atkinson were selected as outstanding candidates from the group and were formally offered an apprenticeship with Powerstar.

Jamie and Ross will now undergo a comprehensive training programme supported by Sheffield College and senior technicians at Powerstar, who have in excess of 20years experience in manufacturing electrical systems and assembling energy storage solutions for a variety of clients across the country.

The hiring of the two apprentices is just the start in the company’s investment in talent and the future of its workforce. Powerstar plans to make the apprentice assessment day, which the two new apprentices were invited to, interviewed and selected from, an annual event.
